How and When to Move a Site to Offline Mode via the PAD with a Manager Profile

Overview

Offline mode enables your Site to continue working if there is a temporary internet outage. After Flyght’s pre-configuration at the Site Level prior to any connectivity outage has been completed, a PAD can then be moved to Offline Mode but only through a Manager Profile, when needed.

Contact Flyght Support to confirm if Offline Mode is already enabled for your Site, as this system parameter is not enabled by default.

Reminders

Offline Mode is intended to be used in emergency situations only, as working with Offline Payment has risks associated. When transactions are ran offline, there is no way to know if the transaction will be approved/declined until after returning to an online state. This is why it is imperative to gather your consumers name and phone number when running the offline transaction. Failure to do so may result in declined payments that cannot be reconciled due to no way available to contact the consumer. All Sites continue to require connectivity redundancy

You and your staff must be aware of the Key Limitations once your Site shifts your devices to Offline Mode

Tasks You and Your Staff Can Do While in Offline Mode

  • Take and store orders on each PAD

  • Process payments (stored locally until the PAD goes back online)

  • Print receipts or kitchen tickets

How will a Manager know if there is a connectivity issue?

If the cloud at the bottom of the PAD screen is green, connectivity to the cloud is stable there is no need to move to Offline mode.

A red cloud indicates that there is no connectivity to the cloud.

There will also be a pop-up as seen below.

On the Spooler PAD:

On Individual PADs:

If the LAN is still maintained, the Spooler should be used to broadcast the above message to individual PADs to move to Offline Mode.

If the LAN is unavailable, the Spooler will not be able to communicate with individual PADs so they will have to be moved manually to Offline Mode.

How can a Manager Move a Site to Offline Mode?

  1. Login to the Spooler PAD with your Manager PIN

  2. Tap Go Offline on the “Network Error” pop-up notification. This will push all PADs connected to it to Offline Mode

  3. There will be a notification on the individual PADs as seen below. While in Offline Mode, there will be yellow bars at the top and bottom of the screen, and the cloud at the bottom of the screen will be yellow
